Our Daily Waste.

Since 2012, Our Daily Waste has been the premier event recycling provider in Canterbury for almost 100 events, diverting around half of the combined waste to recycling, organics, and reusable streams. In 2017 ODW worked with the Christchurch City Council to implement the Composting Food Packaging at Events trials (CFPE). We are one of the approved providers for the trial and as a result our events that sign up are now diverting an average of 70% from landfill.

Whilst Canterbury can now divert many food packaging items, there is not yet a solution for cups, which mostly go to landfill, so in 2018 ODW set up Our Daily Wash, a reusable cup and hot wash station that offers coffee buyers the option of a ceramic cup, which is then washed and sterilised. The Our Daily Wash station is fully H&S compliant and run by our trained staff, and we can also provide the service for Globelet cups. The event gets a lot of positive feedback from this service and we’ve found it has also become a hub where we provide drinking water, information, and informal waste education.

We are an independent social enterprise specialising in waste prevention so we do not make income from the disposal of waste, but we will work with your waste company to ensure you do not pay more than you need to, and that all their requirements are met with regards to clean recycling and organics streams, bin pick up and drop off etc.

• All onsite equipment including: buckets, litter pickers, liner bags, etc.

• All onsite requirements for CFPE trial: vendor audits & liaison etc.

• Set up, emptying, cleaning, and pack-down of all recycling stations
